Monstercat is Canada’s largest independent music label empowering a passionate and creative community through innovation. We have developed our own in-house technology solutions for catalog management, financial payments, and big data problems. With a tight-knit tech department of 8, our mission is to innovate the music industry and build solutions that enable the company and our artists to do what they love.

We are looking for a driven full stack web developer to help us tackle these challenges and build software for large scale systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on multiple big projects, spearhead challenges, and work with large data sets and multiple moving parts and services. From prototype to production, you'll play a part in each step of the development lifecycle. You'll be working on extremely tough challenges that require innovative out-of-the-box thinking. This is a great opportunity to work closely with a small team and be hands on with lots of unique challenges specific to the music industry.


What You’ll Do…

  • You’ll be responsible for all aspects of development from the backend to the frontend as well as the administration of development operations, database infrastructure, etc.
  • Ensure the stability and scalability of services
  • Perform software code reviews & participate in peer coding
  • Communicate effectively with the team and company to gather and refine product requirements
  • Build, deploy, and monitor systems in an agile environment
  • Comply with the technology team policies and practices
  • Perform research and development of new technology requirements
  • Write comprehensive documentation on system architecture, new features, and protocols


About You…

You’ll Need…

  • 8+ years’ experience with web  technologies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of
    • Golang
    • HTML, CSS, & Javascript
    • Familiar with popular web APIs
    • Relational databases such as MySQL, Postgresql, or similar
    • Linux, Docker, and CI/CD
  • Experience working with agile development cycles
  • Skill with troubleshooting defects and performance of systems at scale


Bonus Points for familiarity with...

  • Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Spanner, etc.)
  • React, Next.js
